Torero Trek bridges USD Students with Alumni in New York City

2016 Oct 31

Jasmin Meza, majoring in Mechanical Engineering and class of 2017, networked with alumni in New York City on October 21, through USD's Career Development Center. Jasmin Meza interacted with alumni, employed currently with top organizations such as Citi Bank, Goldman Sachs, Google, Salesforce, S&P Global, and the New York Mets.

This valuable networking opportunity could not have been made possible without the contributions of Charles Bass, Senior Director of Alumni Relations and Robin Darmon, director of the Career Development Center.

Charles Bass stated, "Torero Treks embody the ideal of 'Toreros for Life.' This program helps our current students realize that their relationship with USD will last well beyond graduation and is an excellent opportunity for alumni engagement. Our alumni enjoyed sharing about their USD experiences while serving as valuable resources for current students looking to start their careers."

According to Robin Darmon, "The Triple Torero Trek was a complete success! It proved to be the perfect example of how collaborative this campus is. Alumni Relations working with the Career Development Center allowed us to create an opportunity for students like Jasmin to visit companies in three different cities and meet with alumni to expand their vision of what careers can look like post-USD. We had Toreros in Denver, NYC, and Silicon Valley."

Participating students said, "Torero Treks are one of the best ways to experience potential career paths and create new in-roads into a wonderful array of companies!"
