Ogden Student Teresa Highsmith Studies in Argentina Through USD Program

University of San Diego student Teresa Highsmith of Ogden is studying in Buenos Aires, Argentina this fall.

With a population of 13 million people, Buenos Aires is well-known for its cultural diversity and dynamic atmosphere, making it one of South America's most elegant and vibrant cities. In this semester-long program, offered in collaboration with CEA Global Education, students are enrolled in courses at the CEA Global Campus and at the University of Belgrano, a prestigious Argentine university established in 1964. The Liberal Arts & Social Sciences program in Buenos Aires features a wide curriculum of courses perfect for students of all language levels who wish to explore history, culture, business, and politics in an academic environment that encourages student participation and critical thinking.

Highsmith is majoring in international business and plans to graduate in spring 2013.

USD is ranked first in the nation for the percentage of undergraduate students studying abroad, according to the Institute of International Education's latest Open Doors Report. More than 71 percent of all USD undergraduate students study abroad.

The University of San Diego is a Catholic institution of higher learning chartered in 1949; the school enrolls some 7,800 undergraduate and graduate students and is known for its commitment to teaching, the liberal arts, the formation of values and community service. The fall 2007 establishment of the Joan B. Kroc School of Peace Studies brings the University's total number of schools and colleges to six. Other academic divisions include the College of Arts and Sciences and the schools of Business Administration, Leadership and Education Sciences, Law and Nursing and Health Sciences.
