Alicia Soria selected for USD's unique Torero Trek program

2017 Apr 21

Alicia Soria, majoring in International Business; Spanish and class of 2017, networked with alumni and employers in San Diego on March 24, 2017, through USD's Career Development Center. Alicia Soria interacted with alumni and employers currently with top San Diego tourism companies such as San Diego Airport, San Diego Convention Center, and the San Diego Padres.

This valuable networking opportunity could not have been made possible without the contributions of Charles Bass, Senior Director of Alumni Relations and Robin Darmon, director of the Career Development Center.

Charles Bass stated, "Torero Treks embody the ideal of 'Toreros for Life.' This program helps our current students realize that their relationship with USD will last well beyond graduation and is an excellent opportunity for alumni engagement. Our alumni enjoyed sharing about their USD experiences while serving as valuable resources for current students looking to start their careers."

According to Robin Darmon, "The Torero Trek was a complete success! Torero Treks create wonderful opportunities for our undergraduate students to meet with employers, explore organizations 'behind-the-scenes', and ask thoughtful questions about possible career options. Through the Torero Trek program, students like Alicia are able to visit excellent companies, both near and far, and meet with alumni to expand their vision of what careers can look like post-USD. "

Participating students said, "Torero Treks are one of the best ways to experience potential career paths and create new in-roads into a wonderful array of companies!"
