Adriana Mangione Inducted Into Academic Honor Society

2017 May 5

Adriana Mangione, a student of Mechnical Engineering at the University of San Diego, has been inducted into Pi Tau Sigma, the international mechanical engineering honor society is a great accomplishment, as members are chosen on a basis of sound engineering ability, scholarship, personality, and probable future success in their chosen field of Mechanical Engineering. The top quarter of each class is invited to join PTS.

The San Diego Beta Delta Chapter of Pi Tau Sigma, is an International Mechanical Engineering Honor Society. The organization helps the top of each class of Mechanical Engineering students to network with each other and other professionals in the field. This involvement also leads to service and leadership opportunities. Three members from our Executive Board attended the International Pi Tau Sigma Conference this year in Philadelphia, which was a great way for the organization to get involved with other chapters around the country.

Pi Tau Sigma President, Mei-Li Hey wrote, "Our chapter's goals include: increasing our exposure on campus to be better recognized as a respectable society, increasing our involvement on campus, and raising more funds to benefit our members and other engineering students. We want to create a more active chapter and make a positive change in our campus community."

Harry Schmachtenberger, a Pi Tau Sigma member, says, "Pi Tau Sigma has given me the opportunity to explore different career paths in mechanical engineering and advance further into the field, as I just received a job interview with General Atomics from a fellow Pi Tau Sigma alumni connection. I also networked at the convention with engineers from around the world!"

Overall, student involvement in Pi Tau Sigma leads to a closer bond between engineering majors along with other service and professional opportunities.
