Stephen Wainwright Studies Abroad through University of San Diego Program

University of San Diego student Stephen Wainwright of Paradise Valley studied abroad in South Africa this summer. Wainwright took part in USD's three-week faculty-led program to learn about South Africa's history, politics and culture. As a culture 10 years removed from apartheid rule, the program offered students the opportunity to think critically about the legacy of authoritarian rule, democratization, and race and ethnic reconciliation. Students also had the opportunity to explore South Africa's beauty and abundant wildlife. Wainwright is majoring in marketing.

USD is ranked second in the nation for the percentage of undergraduate students studying abroad, according to the Institute of International Education's Open Doors Report. Nearly 66 percent of all USD undergraduate students study abroad.
